Can my home be staged according to my personal taste and personality?
Home staging is a technique that focuses on creating a look in your home that will appeal to the greatest number of potential buyers. It is therefore important to depersonalize and neutralize the space so that potential buyers can visualize themselves moving in. In a sense, once your home is placed on the resale market, it no longer belongs to you; it belongs to all potential buyers.
Professional stagers stay focused on potential buyers by addressing the following questions:
• Who might be interested in buying your home in this neighbourhood?
• How will your home be perceived upon entering?
• How can the furniture be streamlined to create better traffic flow when walking
around or through rooms?
• What upgrades would the buyer be looking for in this home?
Since your home has to appeal to a wide range of potential buyers, home stagers will depersonalize the space so that it does not reflect any one person's particular taste or personality.
How long will it take to stage my home?
The staging itself is completed in a 24 hour time frame and usually takes place within 7 to 10 days following the initial consultation.
The duration of the whole process varies based on the size of your home and the improvements required (carpentry, painting, etc.).
How much does it cost to stage a home?
Again, like the staging time, the cost varies depending on the size of your home, the work involved, and what may be required in terms of furniture and accessories.
To keep costs to a minimum, we try to use as much of your existing decor as possible.
Will I sell my home faster if I have it staged?
Staging your home is not a guarantee that it will sell. However, statistics show that, on average, a staged home sells 2 to 3 times faster than a non-staged home and reduces the buyer’s bargaining power by a margin of 2 to 10%.
A Royal Lepage survey conducted by Maritz Research in 2006 shows that 36% of buyers are willing to pay more money for a home with updated decor.
